About Julie Carter at MyLuka Dog Training Solutions

I’m Julie, founder and owner of MyLuka Dog Training Solutions, a local puppy and dog trainer who supports dog owners across King’s Lynn and surrounding areas with kind, practical training that focuses on real life skills.

My training approach grew from my journey with my own dog Luka.

My journey with Luka

Luka really tested me.

I love him deeply, but there were times when I felt lost, unsure what to do, and worried I was getting it wrong. The training I came across at the time didn’t sit comfortably with me. It often felt harsh, bossy, and more about control than understanding, and it started to put a strain on our relationship.

Then we discovered game based training, and everything began to change.

Instead of feeling like I was battling against him, it felt like we were learning together. Training became something we both enjoyed, and I started to see Luka relax, engage, and make better choices without pressure. Our relationship grew stronger again, and things that had once felt difficult began to feel possible.

That experience changed the direction of my life. It is the reason I became a dog trainer, and it shapes the way I work today. I know how it feels to be unsure, and I know how powerful the right approach can be not just for the dog, but for the relationship you share.

This journey shaped the way I train today and why I place so much importance on supporting the owner as well as the dog.

My Experience and Approach

Today I’m a certified, award winning dog trainer based in King’s Lynn, supporting families with puppies, adolescent dogs and everyday training challenges.

My background supporting children in Early Years education shaped the way I teach. I understand how learning works best when it feels safe, clear and achievable, and I apply that same thinking to dog training.

My approach focuses on teaching dogs the life skills they need to handle real situations, rather than relying on quick fixes or constant commands.

I use simple training games to teach dogs the skills they need for everyday life. This method is known as concept training, and it helps dogs learn how to think, cope and make good choices.

At the same time, I support owners too. I show you how to read what your dog is telling you through their body language, understand what they need and feel more confident in how you respond.

The aim is not just short term change, but to give you both the understanding and skills to keep progressing together.
